Information

Solid wood material has always been favored by consumers in house decoration. Its original decorative texture and natural elements make the decorative space more comfortable and natural. Wood surface skillfully integrates the beauty of nature and aesthetics. Give the space a sense of luxury.

The production of solid wood panels is generally inseparable from a process, that is, wood panel jointing.

There are a lot of textured chairs and flat and smooth table tops on the market, most of which are made of pieces of wood joined together.

Today, I will introduce you to those things about wood joining.

1. Why do you need to splice wooden boards?

Wood joining is an important process in the production of solid wood furniture. When the size of the existing boards is not enough, we can obtain larger size boards by joining boards, such as joining narrow wood strips into wide boards, the short wooden strips are joined into long wooden strips, and the thin wooden boards are joined into thick wooden boards.

Of course, we can also use different materials for joining to achieve an alternative and beautiful effect.

Usually, when the width of a piece of wood is limited and cannot be directly made into the desired product, the furniture factory will use two or more pieces of wood to join together, and then cut according to the required width.

2, the advantages of wood joining

Corresponding to the joined wooden board is the big single board, the so-called single board is a whole piece of wooden board that has not been joined and repaired.

Perhaps most people prefer the integrity of the single board, but often ignore the shortcomings of the single board:

One is the lack of timber resources, the price of large board materials continues to rise, the other is the limitation of the width of the wood itself, and the third is that the deformation rate of the whole large board is higher than that of the large board after joining, and the joining of small materials can just overcome these shortcomings.And the wood joining process has the following advantages:

2.1. The texture and color of the joined wooden boards are very good overall, and the texture is more prominent after painting. It can create a harmonious and luxurious when used to produce the whole set of furniture.

2.2. After the solid wood is joined and painted, there is no glue joint on the surface, and there will be no uneven slats, and its physical properties are relatively stable, and it is durable after being made into furniture.

2.3. The joining method of plates can greatly improve the utilization rate of wood resources, which is in line with the principle of ecological utilization of raw materials.

Regardless of the texture or color of the joined boards, or the practicability and stability, the joined solid wood boards are very suitable for the manufacture of stable internal structures of furniture and the decoration of furniture surfaces.

3. Strict requirements for the wood joining process

3.1. Machining accuracy of semi-finished board

The planing and straightening of the semi-finished wood strips before joining are the basic requirements to ensure the quality of the panels. The process indicators must be strictly followed, and the type and thickness of the wood strips used for joining should be as consistent as possible.

3.2, Equilibrium moisture content of wood

The moisture content of the wood joined into the same large board should be balanced so that the joined boards and the subsequent production of furniture are more stable.

The moisture content of wood is affected by atmospheric humidity, and the temperature and humidity vary from region to region. It is about 12% in northern regions, about 18% in southern regions, and about 16% in central China.

Balancing the moisture content of wood is of great significance in production.

The moisture content of furniture, doors, windows, interior decoration, and other materials must be lower than the average moisture content of the area where the products are stored and used, and it is necessary to ensure that the moisture content of each part of the wood used is in a relatively close state, otherwise cracking and deformation is easy to occur.

3. 3. Choice of adhesive

Adhesives for wood joining are available in a wide variety of varieties and in varying quality. Two-component adhesives are recommended. This type of adhesive is not a simple physical bond, but promotes a chemical reaction between the wood and the adhesive, making the wood panels stick stronger.

3.4 The color and texture of the boards should be as consistent as possible

For the sake of aesthetics, it is recommended to select wood slats with roughly the same color and texture as possible for joining. Chromatic aberration is the most intuitive factor affecting the aesthetics of the surface of home wood panels. Of course, it is not ruled out that for the needs of innovation or artistry, manufacturers will use wood of different colors to join together. In this case, it is more appropriate to use raw materials of the same variety or material as much as possible.

3.5. Selection of wood joining equipment

According to the actual production needs of the factory, select the appropriate production equipment, if the purchase cost is the most important purchase factor, and at the same time, there is a relatively large area of space for the storage requirements such as the use of clamps for the storage of the wood after the cold pressing, that is to say, it has the More workplaces, manual labor, and other conditions, and at the same time do not rush to improve production efficiency, it is recommended to use the traditional artificial cold joining method.

However, considering the production efficiency and other factors, it is recommended to choose a more efficient wood joining method such as high-frequency joining.

  1. The joining of thin boards is widely used in the manufacture of household products

Flooring: As one of the techniques of decoration of the surface of wooden household products, veneer joining is used to form patterns by joining veneer textures to achieve a minimalist, elegant and stylish decorative effect, which has been widely used in various wooden floor products.

Wooden door: The application of veneer joining in the manufacture of wooden doors is even more! However, in the normal production process of wooden doors, the ends of the boards are prone to cracking or even splitting. Therefore, in the process of making solid wood doors, the thick board can be cut into multiple thin boards or small pieces of wood. It can effectively prevent the edge of the whole solid wood panel from cracking, and then reassemble and joined it into a wooden door panel, and finally use the joined veneer as the surface of the solid wood door panel, In this way, the unique texture and natural luxury of the wood material can be displayed. It is more stable than directly using large wood panels to make solid wood doors.

Furniture countertops: The application of jointed wooden boards to furniture countertops is similar to the above-mentioned process for wooden doors, the use of thin boards as the decorative panels of the furniture countertops can enhance the structural stability of the solid wood countertops and prevent the deformation of the countertops caused by thermal expansion and contraction of the boards under different weather and humidity conditions. Effectively ensure the overall flatness and stability of the solid wood countertops.

5.JYC high-frequency veneer joining machine

JYC company started in 1993 and has been deeply engaged in the field of high-frequency dielectric heating for 30 years. On the basis of a large number of assembling equipment that can be joined with different boards that are sold well in the international market, JYC also specially develops and manufactures several types of equipment for use in joining ultra-thin wood planks.

Features of JYC HF solid wood  thin board joining machine:

5.1 It can quickly joining 2-6mm thin boards;

5.2 The width can be joined continuously, and the size can be flexibly set according to production needs;

5.3 Fast and efficient, it only takes 30-60 seconds to complete the heating and joining of a thin wood board;

5.4 The processing parameters such as hydraulic pressure, heating time, and pressure holding time can be adjusted through the human-computer interaction interface of the digital control screen, with high processing precision and high flatness of the finished board;

5.5 Support remote assistance, including system maintenance and upgrade;

5.6 The processing parameters and automatic sawing function can be pre-set according to customer needs. The equipment also supports customers to set new processing parameters by themselves and also has a foot controller, which effectively improves the work efficiency of laborers.

5.7 Effectively improve the utilization rate of the processing area

In the traditional cold joining method, the boards still need to be kept pressed by the fixture for several hours. The manufacturer needs to provide a separate area for the joined boards to hang, which virtually reduces the space utilization of the processing area.However, if the boards are joined by the JYC high-frequency joining machine, it only takes a few minutes of curing time to be directly sent to the next process, which greatly improves production efficiency and improves the space utilization of the manufacturer's production area.
